50 Questions People Forget to Ask Vendors When Planning Their Wedding
Planning a wedding can be such a complicated process that some details about the venue, florist, catering, and other aspects of it may completely slip your mind.
In fact, here’s a common scenario: you go to a vendor, ask some questions, but the minute you arrive home, you immediately remember 5 other questions you meant to ask but forgot. So you begrudgingly sigh to yourself, saying, ‘dang, I’ll just call them.’ Sounds familiar?
To help minimize this happening, we’ve put together a list of 50 must-ask questions when planning your wedding that you might forget, or haven’t even thought of. This list aims to complete all the basic questions you probably have in mind already. Read on!

How many hours is included in the rental fee? Is there overtime charge and if yes, how much?
Do you have liability insurance?
Are tables, linens, chairs, plates, silverware, and glassware provided?
Am I allowed to bring our own decoration?
Are there restrictions to what we can do/have in the venue? Such as, are sparklers/confetti/fireworks/food trucks and other fun but potentially hazardous items allowed?
If I bring my own caterer, is there a kitchen available for them?

Can I hire my own vendors or is there a vendor list we need to stick to?
Does the venue provide assistance getting gifts and/or décor back to a designated car or hotel room after the wedding?
Is on-site parking available and if so, is it complimentary? If not, where can my guests park?
Are you licensed, with health permits and liability insurance?
Will you need any special permits/license for my wedding, and if yes, how will you be able to obtain them?
How can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions?
Will the food be prepared on-site of the wedding or not?
Can we provide our own alcohol, and just use your staff?
Is there a corkage fee for providing our own wine or champagne?
How do you charge for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages? Per consumption or per person? Which is more cost-effective?
What is the ratio of servers to guests that you will provide?
Do you provide children meals, and what is the cost for that?
How many hours in advance will your team arrive at the venue, and what is your cleanup policy for after the event?
How many other events are you providing flowers for the same weekend as my wedding
Are the flowers I’m requesting in season? If not, will you be able to provide them, and will there be any additional cost?
Will you provide a mock-up or sketch of the flower arrangements before the wedding?
How many consultations will I get?
Are there any additional fees for the vases, cardholders, and other decorative items?
Is there a delivery charge? And can you help us move the flowers from the ceremony to the wedding reception site?
Will a tossing bouquet be provided, and is there any extra cost?
Can you provide organic or pesticide-free flowers?
Will you provide help in pinning on the boutonnieres?
What is your cancellation policy?
Hair and Make-up
Will it be YOU on my wedding day, or someone else? What happens if you suddenly can’t make it?
Can you duplicate a hair/makeup look from a magazine?
How many trial runs or review sessions do you offer, and what do they include? Are they already included in your fee?
Do you sell cosmetic products too? Will my bridal party be getting an unexpected sales pitch during the day?
Do you have any other events on the same day as mine?
What will you use to keep my makeup fresh the entire day? What kind of products will you use to ensure there is no whitecast/flashback?
Will you be able to travel to my location and will there be a travel fee?
Can you accommodate allergies or certain skin conditions? Will there be a fee for that?
Will you have a team of assistants on my wedding day or will it be just you?
Will you provide touch-ups during the event? Are they included in your fee?
Will it be YOU on my wedding day, or will it be someone else? What happens if all of a sudden you can’t make it?
Do you often shoot weddings that have a similar size and style to the one I am planning?
How would you describe your working style? Do you prefer to blend into the background to capture candid moments, or do you like to take charge and choreograph images?
Are retouching, color adjusting, and other corrective services included in your fee or are they extra?
In what format will I be getting the pictures and videos, and how soon after the wedding can I get them?
Can I request a list of shots we specifically want?
Do you need to come check out our wedding venue in advance?
Do you include engagement shoots and preparation events such as wedding rehearsals in your packages?
How will you and your team be dressed? If there is a dress code, will you be able to somewhat follow it?
Do you usually publicize your work on your website, social media, or blogs? Will you be posting about our wedding?
