#StartUpsForSchool is Coming for You, Kitchener-Waterloo!
Did you know that Kitchener-Waterloo is currently home to more than 64,000 students, 121 schools, and over 1,400 start-ups? These numbers are astounding and we are proud to operate in a region of impressive productivity and innovation. However, taking a closer look, you’ll find that there are cracks within these numbers. In 2017, 839 students failed to graduate and 1,391 children still require support for their educational needs.
Energy-focused startup EnPowered recognized this problem and realized that something needs to be done about it. They came up with an idea - a volunteer outreach program. Their first endeavour will be to raise funds for The Resilience Project, run by the Family and Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region Foundation, in hopes to support resilience-building programs in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, which can help students persevere in their education. Its name? Start-Ups For School.
